Kodo One Earth Tour 2027: Luminance

For more than four decades, the taiko drumming masters of Kodo have traveled the globe, shaping contemporary perceptions of the traditional Japanese art form through disciplined precision and rhythmic power.

In Luminance, the ensemble reflects on its artistic legacy while charting new creative paths forward. The program features iconic works and a tribute to Monochrome, Maki Ishii’s seminal composition, which continues to influence taiko performance as it nears its 50th anniversary.

New works by current ensemble members and guest artists draw on diverse cultural experiences and musical traditions, expanding the expressive range of taiko while honoring its foundations.
